I have been a travel consultant for 34 years, 14 of them at Gateway Travel.  During that time, I have seen so many changes: from hand-written airline tickets in the days before computers all the way to today's high-speed internet reservations.  Two things have never changed for me:  the exciting challenge of creating the ideal trip for each client and the deep satisfaction of knowing I've done my very best.  Once, a long-time client told me "Having you as my travel agent is like traveling with my mother."  I think that was a compliment!

I've come to truly enjoy traveling and learning about different cultures and lifestyles.  An added enjoyment for me is seeking out new hotels (often fearing that I'll be arrested for sneaking around corridors and peeking into open rooms) and exploring unique destinations to share with my clients.

Everyone always jests that my job is one of glamour and free trips.  Of course, there are some occasion "perks," but for me the biggest benefit has always been the loyal clients who have shared their lives with me and become part of mine.
